Check out the exciting Run For The Hills 5K Run in Great Barrington, Massachusetts on Sunday, September 30, 2012. Hosted by Bard College at Simon's Rock, the race will commence exactly at 9:30 on Alford’s Road just one-quarter mile north of the college entrance. Runners will enjoy a bucolic route that will take them along country back roads that make their way through forests and farms in the picturesque Berkshire Mountains. Race day check-in and registration take place from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 in the Kilpatrick Athletic Center gymnasium. That’s where entrants can pick up everything from bibs to pins to t-shirts, which are only guaranteed for early registrants. There will be light refreshments served at the Kilpatrick Athletic Center following the race. Division winners will be announced at that time as well. Parking is located behind athletic center and bathrooms can be found in the main lobby next to the refreshment area as well as in locker rooms just off the lobby.
One of the highlights of the Run For The Hills 5K Run is that all the proceeds from this very worthy charity event will benefit the Great Barrington Land Conservancy, which is a non-profit organization that focuses on the preservation of the area’s natural resources and unique character. Through promotion and fund-raising endeavors, such as the Great Barrington run, the conservancy is able to further the allocation of much-needed open space for agricultural and recreational purposes via everything from restrictions on agricultural preservation to acquisitions.
